Innovative Webcast Solutions: Bringing Radiology Content to a Global Audience

The collaboration between the European Society of Radiology (ESR) and meta-fusion began in 2014 with the shared vision of elevating the European Congress of Radiology (ECR) to a new digital level. At that time, we started with webcast in 17 rooms - an ambitious project that has continuously grown ever since.

Through close and trusted collaboration, we have steadily developed the technical implementation over the years. A milestone was the 25th anniversary congress in 2019, where we have reached new dimensions by streaming 36 parallel live and on-demand channels. This success demonstrates the capacity and innovation that meta-fusion brings to large-scale events.

In 2024, AI-generated transcriptions and translations were integrated into the congress workflow for the first time, marking another step in making knowledge even more accessible worldwide. This reflects the ESR’s high commitment to innovation and meta-fusion’s technical excellence.

A key highlight of the ECR has always been the grand opening show, which impresses each year with a unique theme. In 2025, the theme is "Planet Radiology", not only reflected in the content but also in an elaborate and visually striking opening ceremony.

With approximately 20,000 participants from nearly every country in the world, the ECR ranks among the largest medical congresses globally. The ECR 2024 alone saw 18,861 participants from 127 countries. A five-day congress of this scale demands the highest level of technical precision, a challenge that meta-fusion meets with dedication.

The long-standing collaboration between the ESR and meta-fusion is defined by innovation, professionalism, and a shared mission: making radiology content accessible at the highest level worldwide. We look forward to continuing this success story in the years to come.
